  1. SB 1204 requires school districts in Oklahoma to provide three days of paid bereavement leave to teachers and school support employees after the death of a spouse or child.

The bill explicitly says this bereavement leave includes miscarriage, and that miscarriage-related bereavement leave is in addition to (not a substitute for) any sick leave used for miscarriage and recovery.

It also makes clear this new minimum benefit can’t be used to undercut any locally negotiated leave policies that already provide more.

The bill lists a July 1, 2026 effective date but also includes an emergency clause for immediate effect
