Oklahoma SB 904 bans the use of state money and state-owned facilities for gender transition procedures — things like surgeries and hormone treatments intended to align someone’s body with a gender identity different from their biological sex. The ban applies to both minors and adults, and it explicitly cuts off SoonerCare (Medicaid) reimbursement for these services. State employees or officials who knowingly violate the law could be charged with a misdemeanor. The bill carves out exceptions for things like mental health counseling, treating complications from prior procedures, and care for people born with intersex conditions. It passed the Senate on March 25th and takes effect immediately upon full passage and the Governor’s signature.
