SB 1657 prohibits the manufacture or distribution of abortion-inducing drugs, subject to narrow carve-outs (like ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage management, or to save the pregnant patient’s life). The enforcement mechanism is a privatized “qui tam” lawsuit system, wherein private individuals may sue alleged violators.
